This is the old Sakuraba family house, and it was built in 1933 as the house of Sakuraba Bunzo, who served as Mayor of Odate. The present owner is Mr. Narita. This building is a wooden two-story traditional style house equipped with a western style room. The rooms are wider than normal rooms. There house is noted for porch flooring made from zelkova (12.3m2) and the patterns of the sliding paper doors. There is a balcony on the second floor, and the roof includes gabled, hipped, and triangular design elements. The total floor area is 288,19㎡. The designers were Ono Kumazo and Ishida Tsunekichi, and the master carpenter was Echigo Jinkichi.
